High unemployment rate and low wages created many unschooled residents. In neighborhoods of the Bulawayo city, hundreds and thousands of youths and adults are seeking affordable learning space for the requisite education. WCC offers a collaborative learning space led by instructors with teaching experiences. The membership fee is equivalent to $1(USD) a day, affordable to many households in the city.
Founded on the philosophy of Ubuntu and Booker T. Washington, the founder of Tuskegee Institute in the US, we deliver education through practical skills development and entrepreneurship. We emphasize the spirit of love for labor, nature, and community building; these are critically important elements yet typical education in Africa often lacks. By grounding our approach in the principles of Booker T. Washington, our co-learning centre seeks to empower learners with practical skills, an appreciation for their local environment, and a commitment to strengthening their communities. This holistic model of education is designed to foster sustainable development and create opportunities for all.

To keep membership fees low and accessible, we supplement our operating costs through hands-on projects and initiatives. These include brick making, commercial gardening, and the production of textile goods. Not only do these projects help sustain our center, but they also give our students valuable real-world skills and experience.
